Efficiency

Efficiency PicIt’s a well-known adage that the cleanest kW/h of electricity is the one that’s not generated. Incidentally, it’s also the cheapest. According to the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, the average cost to save a kW/h of electricity is 50%-66% cheaper than the average cost to generate one.1

Interesting policy mechanisms have helped make energy efficiency a more attractive option for businesses and homeowners alike. This includes Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing, in which the up-front costs of energy efficiency measures are spread out and attached to the property taxes connected with the property in question.3

although this iteration of Shaheen-Portman is not as comprehensive.

The booming energy efficiency industry has made significant contributions to our economy. According to Booz Allen Hamilton, the green building sector alone supported nearly 8 million jobs from 2009 to 2013.6
